Wandering Raven
July 21, 2023
Welcome
First, I would like to welcome you to the first issue of the Walking Raven. In this issue I will discuss features, benefits, and purpose. As a writer, I wish to impart some of my knowledge as a writer to other future writers. I have learned from some of the best, and it is my turn to return the favor. Each month I will provide some of this wisdom, conferences, contests, and my future publication.
Tidbits: Research
Index Card Journaling
Since I became a writer, I heard that it is a good idea to have a journal. Placing a journal on the bedside stand provides a location to write down thoughts before or after sleep. Losing notes became increasingly easy as the journal increased. The more notes, the faster it is lost.
I needed better organization, and a pile of journals was not logical. How could I determine whether a story idea needed a full notebook or just a line of writing? Index cards with organizing cards and a card box make for an efficient way of journaling.
With an idea, I take a card and place information on the front of the card. At the top, I give the story a simple title. This is not set in stone, so I can change it and move the card. With a title, I can place the card in the box organized based on the title. When I need notes for writing, I can go to the stack of cards and easily find the information.
I have added a small clipboard to make it easier to write in bed.
